Described by Samuel Pilafian as a “great young brass virtuoso,” Joshua Bledsoe has established himself as one of the premier performers amongst a new generation of musicians.
Joshua has received acclaim on the international stage as an exciting young soloist. Credits include the ‘08 International Trombone Association Solo Competition winner, ‘07 Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition national winner, ‘06 Yamaha Young Performing Artist Award and ‘04 International Trombone Association Solo Competition. Joshua has performed as soloist with the Pensacola Civic Band, Salt River Brass and in opening ceremonies of the Bands of America summer festival.
Equally at home in the orchestra, Joshua is currently serving a one-year appointment as principal trombone with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra and is principal trombone with the Symphony of the Southwest. Previously, Joshua served as second trombone for the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.
Joshua received the BM from Florida State University and MM from Arizona State University. He is currently pursuing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Arizona State University where his duties include teaching the undergraduate students, studio class, brass methods and conducting the ASU Trombone Choir.
Joshua currently studies with Ralph Sauer, former principal trombone of the LA Philharmonic. Previous teachers include Dr. John Drew, Gail Eugene Wilson and Michael Becker.
